Oops
I just realized I hadn't formatted the blog to automatically forward comments to my e-mail account. I also changed it so people can leave anonymous comments-- which means you don't have to register with blogger to leave a comment or you can use that function if you have some particularly nasty critiques. :)

Totem Pages: in progress
Okay, I spent some time this afternoon going through people's suggestions and making edits to the graphics. I haven't hit everything on people's lists yet because... well, it's time to get ready for class. But I thought I'd post what I've got thus far. I'm really happy how the bear and raven are turning out-- the frog still needs some attention.

Intro Totem Animal Pages
Note: the actual illustrations of the totem animals are still in progress--but you can get a general feeling for how/where they are going to fit on the page.
I moved some of the content around in the frog description. I try not to editorialize too much and just stick to design, but it's inevitable that I want to throw my own two cents in...
The black bear page feels a bit too text heavy compared to the other pages. I would have more flexibility to work with the text if I moved down from a 12 pt to a 10pt font (like the "What is a Totem" sidebar), but for children this young, I don't think we should go any smaller. For the Raven and Mtn Goat booklets, I think it's okay to have smaller text and/or longer text passages.
The black text in the blue bar says:
"Mountain Goats are quite skilled at balancing on rocky ledges and can fit all four hooves on rocks as small as 2” by 6”, about the size of this blue box"
